The 4th of July

Knoxville
If you feel the need to get out of the house on the 4th there is a big to-do in Knoxville at the world fair park. (What ever happened to those "world fairs" anyway?) Starts at 2pm fireworks at 9:35pm and finished by 10pm. You are not allowed to bring pets, coolers, or tents. But I would say sunscreen is a must and lots of water. The event is free to the public, so come on down.

Blount County
There is a rumor of something in Townsend, but I can't get it confirmed. If there are fireworks they are most likely across from Highland Manor.

Sevier County
There is a festival at Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge, located off old mill ave. Please go to the web site for parking directions http://www.mypigeonforge.com/ click on events, click patriot festival. The park itself has no parking and you will need to park at an alternate parking area and take the trolly, all of which is free. The event starts at noon .Kids carnival, concerts and entertainment, all non profit. Free to the public with  fireworks at 9:45pm. You will have to buy food if you are hungry, though.

Gatlinburg also has fireworks at 10pm.

Parade
The only parade I have been able to find is in Gatlinburg and it is at midnight. That is right the middle of the night! Sunday night into Monday morning. I personally think this is a trerrible time for kids not to mention the additional traffic time could make drivers drowsy while waiting, but this is when they are doing it. They are happy to be the first parade in the nation and it is quite lengthy at 1-2 hours.

If you are going to go to any event plan to go early and expect a crowd. The events for the 4th seem to be few and far between so anywhere there is one there is bound to be a crowd.
